Over the Christmas holidays I bought a FEC100 from Rod (Pellet Envy) Gray. I am totally surprised by the way it cooks. I thought the WSMs with Guru were a set it and forget it cooker but the FEC wins hands down. Then again it costs a lot more. This translates into more sleep at contests. More sleep equals less mental mistakes at the critical time.
I found that being made from stainless steel, it absorbs smoke like crazy. Rod advised me to run it for several hours just to season it. I ran it for a total of 6 hours on 2 different days. World of difference!
As I use it more and more it seems to work better. Maybe its the seasoning but I believe the food tastes better. I've cooked 3 briskets, 2 butts, 12 slabs of ribs, 2 chickens and a turkey thru it. Not all at the same time. If you get the rib racks (4) you can cook 40 slabs of ribs!
If you got the bucks, get a hold of Rod at PelletEnvy.com and tell him I sent ya. You might be surprised at the deal he can give you on a new one. Maybe even on a used one. _________________ PCMCIA - People Can't Memorize Computer Industry Acronyms. – Unknown |
