The story so far:
Adam Kane is the new star of Genomex, the fresh, young scientist who figured out how to stabilize DNA strands and cure people of various diseases. At the same time he works on finding a way to stabilize the genetic functions of Genomex's experiments -- four young people monitored of their abilities and basically treated as lab rats inside the compound, except by Adam himself.
Selene Quant, a feral, together with her panther Bast, has just been hired by Genomex to be Adam's personal bodyguard, under the supervision of Mason Eckart. Tension increases in the compound as Adam tries every possible way to get the woman off her back, while Dr. Harrison secretly tries to run his own experiments on Adam, as instructed by Eckart.
Meanwhile, Project Tasha gets in trouble with Eckart, while Project Chris deals with the new bodyguard and suddenly finds her self involved in a series of events that further emphasizes the instability of her own existence, and probably the existence of other new mutants as well.
Questions are continued to be raised: What plans do Mason Eckart and Dr. Harrison have in store for the young scientist? Who is the mysterious Christina? And who are Rain and Hayden, who both seemed to be connected to Adam for some unknown reason? And where are the two other Genomex projects -- Alex and the other nameless project?
All these and more as the story continues in The Genomex Years.

"Actually I was thinking more of practice makes perfect, but hey." And they moved for the doorway.
Unfortunately said hallway was filling rapidly with Genomex personnel, half of which Adam had never seen before.
"I don't believe you've been discharged, Dr Kane." Said someone from behind and fired at point blank range.
Adam jerked half around and then fell to the ground clutching his arm at the blood seeping from there.
"Son of a bitch! You shot me!" He yelled in indignation more then pain. |

"Now thats interesting, considering Paul is off site and won't be back until next week, isnt it Ms Quant." Mason Eckhart purred coming into view.
"Now, we can be reasonable about this..." He took out his own gun and shot the technician who had shot Adam in the arm.
He smiled thinly. |

Adam managed a slight shake of his head.
"Not without reinforcements... too many." He cautioned her.
The shock of being shot was beginning to catch up to him.
He gave her a look which plainly said Later..
Mason Eckhart clapped his hands.
"Good. Well then. Lets get that arm patched up shall we. Wouldnt want Paul to think I go around shooting his staff for no good reason would we. Or the subjects for that matter." He added more meaningfully. |

Adam grimaced, but didnt pull away when a medic came forward to check the wound.
Seconds later he slumped quietly to one side, an 'antibiotic' jab doing its work.
He was carried away, leaving Mason and Chris and Selene Quant staring at each other.
"Ladies. Ms Quant, I regret to inform you your services are no longer required. Good day."
He turned and left. |
