This is for the RR Challenge of Keira and me. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Saving Me
“Come on man! We don’t have all day!”
The elemental shot his molecular friend a deadly look before zapping the last of the GS agents blocking their way in the building.
“And I distinctively remember having a deal about not using our powers,” the blonde molecular continued as he walked inside the warehouse. “You owe me 50 bucks.”
Brennan debated in his mind if he should fry Jesse next, but decided against it after being reminded of the importance of their mission. He could hear Shalimar’s voice from his commlink, yelling at them to hurry up and get their pretty little a***s inside the building if they wanted to save the new mutant they were supposed to pick up an hour ago.
“It’s not like it was my fault that the Audi broke down before we could get here,” Brennan huffed as an answer to the feral’s command. He heard a snarl at the other line and decided to shut up if he wanted to stay in one piece. Dealing with a frustrated, not to mention impatient, feral was no worse than getting your a** by the GSA.
“Brennan, Jesse,” Emma’s voice came through next. “Shalimar’s in the second floor. The contact is in the perimeter. I’m disabling the Helix’ stealth mode in exactly ten minutes. That’s the time you have left to get the contact and get back here. The explosives they had set up will go off at about that time. So hurry up.”
“Got that, “Jesse replied, meeting Brennan’s eyes. They nodded at each other and both headed for the second floor.
Upon reaching the room where the contact was supposed to be kept captive, both mutants found Shalimar already beating up the rest of the GSA. After finishing the last one, she flipped her hair and smiled cockily at them. “Having fun, boys?” she asked, earning a smirk from either guy. The two entered the room and found a girl in her middle twenties tied up in a chair in the far corner of the room.
Jesse cocked his head to his left as he watched Shalimar approach the frightened girl. “Why do they always, always choose abandoned buildings as hideouts?” he asked dryly.
Shalimar merely winked at him and bent down to untie the girl. Tears were running down her cheeks, and she tried to wriggle out of Shalimar’s reach the minute the feral placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Hey, don’t worry, we’re the good guys,” she assured her. The girl didn’t seem to care, and continued producing frightened sounds until Shalimar took the gag from her mouth.
“Who are you?” the girl squeaked.
“We’re Mutant X,” Shalimar replied gently, removing the rope from the girl’s wrists. “Come on, we need to get you out of here.”
The girl stood up and tried to walk but ended up crashing down the floor.
Just then, Emma’s voice sounded throughout the room. “Guys! You have three minutes to get out of there,” she reminded them. “Hurry.”
“Ok, that’s it,” Brennan said, walking towards the girl and picking her up. “Let’s go.”
Shalimar and Jesse nodded and followed the elemental out of the building. They reached the Helix and flew just before the building self-destructed.
“That was a close one,” Emma commented, smiling at them as she set the Helix into auto-pilot mode. She took one look at the frightened girl and offered her a smile. She could sense the turmoil going on inside the girl, something similar to the way she had felt when Adam and the others first saved her from the GSA. She sat beside her and placed a comforting hand on her knee. “Hey, everything will be all right, ok?”
Jesse stood beside Emma and placed his hand on her shoulder. He then smiled at the psionic, knowing that she was recalling the first time they met. He then turned to the girl and smiled warmly. “So, do we get a name?”
The girl finally managed to give a little smile before answering. “It’s Keira. Keira Kane.”

"Kane..?" Brennan asked, a little confused while Jesse, Emma and Shalimar all exchanged looks. The girl, Keira gave a slight nod and smiled weakily while rubbing her wrists.
"Yes, Kane. I'm..Adam's daughter." Keira replied, grinning slightly as the team looked at her at little ackwardly. "You don't believe me..do you..?" She asked, brown eyes scaling the Helix.
"It's a little hard to believe. That's all." Jesse explained, shaking his head in disbelief as Brennan just stared at Keira.
At Sanctuary, Adam was waiting for his team to walk in. As they did, Keira was walking beside Brennan, looking towards Adam. "Keira.." Adam said smiling at his daughter as she went over and hugged Adam.
"Dad. I missed you..so much." Keira said as Shalimar blinked and looked at Emma, who just cast her a look of not to say anything.
"I missed you too, Kei." Adam said to her as he looked at his team. "And before you ask. Yes, Keira is my daughter. She's also a tiger feral and electrical elemental. Keira, mett Brennan Mulwray, Emma DeLauro, Shalimar Fox and Jesse Kilmartin. Now, if you'll excuse us." Adam continued and lead Keira to the lab do do a few scans, as Brennan still stared at Keira and gave a slight smirk, while the molecular looked at Brennan.
"What is with you man..? Are you in love or something..?" Jesse whispered but his elemental friend ignored him. "Fine then. Don't answer." Jesse grumbled as Brennan left off towards the lab.
As Brennan entered the lab, Adam cast him a look saying not to ask anything. Brennan just gave Adam the puppy look as Keira looked at her father and the male elemental confusingly. "Um.." Keira's voice interrupted them as both, Brennan and Adam looked at her. "As much as I'd like to watch you to throwing looks at each other, I'd like to go take a shower and get some rest." She continued.
Adam nodded at his daughter's request. "Of course, Brennan show Keira where everything is, including a room to stay in please, she'll be with us for quite awhile, now that Eckhart and his team are searching for her." Adam said, as Brennan nodded.

Meanwhile, at Genomex, in Mason Eckhart's office, there was tension going on between the agents that were meeting with Mason.
"So, you're telling me that Adam has came to his daughter's rescue..?" Mason asked Frank Thorpe and another agent.
"Yes sir, Adam's team of mutants has over come our agents once again." The another agent replied.
"Find Miss Kane and eliminate her, even if you have to kill Adam and his team to get to her." Eckhart ordered.

"Wow. Cool!" was all Keira could say when the elemental showed her where she would be sleeping for the next coupls of days. "Thanks!" she told him brightly, unmindful of his intent stare on her face.
"If you need anything else, you can look for any of us and we'll see what we can do," Brennan replied shortly.
"Will do," the girl replied and hopped on the bed, curling to her stomach and almost immediately falling asleep.
Brennan stared at her for a while before going over and covering her with her blanket. He looked at her face one more time and slowly left the room, leaving Keira to get her much needed rest. |

About three hours later, Keira woke up with a yelp. A rather loud one, which drew Brennan's attention from down the hallway as he ran down to her room.
"You okay..?" He asked, looking at her. Keira just sat up unsure of what to say.
"Adam!!! I need you down here in Keira's room!!! Now!!" Brennan shouted into his comlink, waking up the scientist.
"Not now, Brennan.." Adam said until he snapped as he heard his daughter's name. "On second thought, I'll be right there!! "Just let me grab a shower and a cup of coffee first." The scientist said.
There was a long pause until Brennan sighed. "Fine.. Just make it quick.." He said, going to sit down on the chair in Keira's room.
"..It was a nightmare.. That's all.." Keira said suddenly. Brennan just had a look of disbelief on his face. |
