What I would change...
Maybe what I'm saying is already said, but I am too lazy tonight to even read.
I would change the science mostly, because even with high school science, you know that a microwave eccelorator (sp?) doesn't excist. Mutancy does excist, but not in this extreme way.
Brennan is shown as a thug in the first episodes, and I think it's a shame that they did not keep that going through out the rest of the series.
Emma was a shop-a-holic. Once again, a shame they didn't continue characterizing her like that.
I'd like to have seen more of Adam's secret agenda and I'd rather not have Mason killed but if he had to die, I'd rather not have him killed by Brennan but a more proper death, for example due to his immune difficency. |

Mutant X was a source of science disinformation. The science they could never bother getting right is easy and readily accessible and understandable by non-specialists.
Somehow, I've managed to write an AU universe of MX stories keeping that science straight, and I have not wept once. I wasn't even getting paid. |

power to you sweetie, but i think i'll just keep with the fake science stuff that they use in the shows when i write....it makes it a whole lot easier on me especially since i was never that good at scinece anyhow. trust me i'm the one who still mixes bleach and certian fluids that contain amonia and nearly kill myself once a week (i have to clean the bath rooms at work and the men's is A MESS) lol yeah i am really pittiful.
heres to you and your patientce with science, my i eventually find just a flake of it!

The basic fact that genetic changes have to be present at conception or a few cell divisions after is pretty straightforward--there is no way to possible alter every egg/sperm in an adult, which is what MX disinformation would have us believe, since MX mutants pass on their characteristics. The real science here is more straightforward than the sloppy stuff on the series.
Science is easy. You don't have to write blather to please the prejudices of your instructors and you can distance yourself from the politics of the workplace on the job (no small part of why I have stayed with analytical chemistry for 3 decades). |

i do get that much of that stuff. it is just not that important to me when i am watching the tv show, and somtiems their messed up science gives me a little more freedom to experiment in my stories, and trust me i do love to experiment.
all i've ever really cared about was the actors, and trust me i'm a loyalist there. i've broken a personal rule and followed forbes over to his soap. i also loved the fight scenes and the relationships.
i'm not going to be a brat and try to offend you, i'm just saying that i'm more into the fun of the show than being into the scientific side, and i can honestly see that you are very much intot he science parts of it. somehow i get the feeing that if i dont say that i respect your POV we will go back and forth for a really long time about this, and i dont want to offend you.
so there i've siad my piece for now

Actually what I write is very much concerned with the characters. I'm interested in what shapes individuals to be what they are over time. I just find the simple scientific facts more intriguing to work with than the nonsense of say, Dark Star Rising, in which fully mature adults are !!!POOF!!! made into mutants.
Taking the consequences of the real science to their long-term implications makes for a more intriguing universe than Team Z versus Team Y, which is really all the series puts forward in S1. In S2 & S3, even that premise is dumped & it isn't really clear what the point is, if there is one (I think the show jumped the shark with 201 when Adam worked ceremonial magic.).
I'm not offended. Trading ideas gives no offense. |

i write emotion, i dotn do science unless i need it, trust me my lab scenes are as vauge as they can be but the love scnes can bcome explicitly detialed.
i've had a run of bad luck with my tv shows, most all of my favorites are off air these days or are going to be off air after this year. my father and i started out five years ago watching smallville, andromeda, mx, and enterprise. of those shows only smallville remains. we've added in BSG and Stargate Atlantis. we've also lost Birds of Prey, Witchblade, and Xena.
of course i am the one who cried at the end of the last Touched by an Angel espisode.
and i will say that i'm a little definsive about the show, but i have my reasons. it is one of the very few things in my life that still makes me happy, and these days things have gone down hill for me, so that is very important to me.
lotta love

I deal with the consequences of the technology developed by Breedlove and Adam, and the consequences of bad human judgment. I've written a credible scene where Mason sheds a tear (not about himself, either), which is certainly emotional in content. |

congrats on being able to write that. i have a hard time writing the bad stuff...anyone who has read the 2 chaps of 'rising light' can tell you that aobut me. and eckhart is one character that constantly eludes me, but i plan on trying to conquer that probelme too.
i'm more of the romance novelist type, and i know that i am. I hve long ago accepted my fate, and that is just me.
so anyways.....i'm going to try not to turn this into a cat fight over soemthing as silly as a tv show.
love

WOW! You must be a good writer then!
Seriously, if you want to turn this into a debate (not sure if you have already) then please do post it in the appropriate episodes discussion forum.

well, i wouldn't exactly put it that way.......
romance novels, just not the racy over filled with sex ones, though at one time i could write a sex scene with ease....but that was another lifetime.
besides, the characters have to hae some romatic or sexual interests in other people, it is human nature.
