Rose is killed when saving children from warlords, Jack has left and the Doctor is alone again. Can he take losing the woman he loved?
The White Guardian visits the Doctor and tells him that someone ELSE was present who shouldn't have been and that Rose wasnt meant to die on that planet but that she was killed to stop a later event.
Can the Doctor go back and break the laws of Time without engendering the wrath of Reapers? Will Jack believe the Doctor enough to come and help rather than putting his friend into a hospital of bereavement?
And why DOES Rose insist on wearing that pink jumpsuit all the time?
Who knows?!

He fixed the wonky chair just for something to do. It didnt matter, it wasnt like there was anyone to sit in it anymore. His mind flicked back to happier time, a time where a blonde haired girl would bounce into his console room like she owned the place, plonk herself in the chair and twirl it around to irritate him.
He'd always pretend her behaviour was beneath him of course, but secretly it was one of the many many things he'd loved about his favourite ape.
It stood empty, alone and in a sudden fit of rage, he smashed it against the far wall of the room. As quick as it had come, the anger was gone and he sighed - his head drooping.
He wasnt surprised when, two weeks after her death, Jack had announced he was leaving as well. He didnt try and stop the ex Time Agent, hadnt bothered to respond to the text messages Jack still sent him occassionally. All he wanted to do was curl up in a corner of the Universe and join her in death. Was this love, then? A Human emotion, one which he as a Time Lord should never be able to have?
He didnt know. All he knew was it hurt. It hurt alot.
[Its not supposed to be like this]
His head whipped up and he saw the White Guardian before him. His mouth set into a grim line.
"And what would you know about it! Why do you care?" He shouted, the anger and pain back again.
[she was murdered by forces unseen, before her time. You can save her, and you must Time Lord. For she will carry on when you cannot.] Insisted the White Guardian with a small smile.
"What? Who killed her! Why!" He demanded, some of the old Doctorness rushing back.
[That I cannot say. But save her you can. It is up to you, Time Lord. Make the leap... as she once did.] That was it. The Guardian vanished as quickly as it had arrived.
Galvanised into action, The Doctor flicked switches and for the first time hope stirred inside him. He was going to go back! He was gonna save his Rose!
But first he needed to pick up someone else, along the way to help.
The TARDIS landed, and the Doctor stepped outside into the glaring sunlight. Striding over to where the near isolated mechanics works stood, he put a hand up against the intense sunlight breaking into a huge smile.

Jack looked up and was met with the face of an old friend he thought he'd never see again.
"Doctor," he said smiling, running over to hug the Time-Lord. "It's been a long time."
Jack stood back to survey the Doctor. He didn't look good. Frail and withered, like he'd given up the will to live. But then Jack had felt like that when Rose first died. His heart twinged as he remembered.
"What can ?I do ya for?" Jack asked a little toobrightly, trying to forget the old hurt. |

Jack stared at him in disbelief, hardly daring to hope the impossible.
"But what about all the time laws stating you can't mess with death?" He asked, sure there must be a catch. |

"She wasnt supposed to die, Jack. You ever hear of the Guardians of Time? One for the good, one for the bad side, keeping the Universe balanced?" He asked him, wanting to sit down, but not sure if he'd make it gracefully or not.
Since Jack's departure meals and sleep had become non existance bedfellows of the Time Lord. Still at least he wasnt giving it away to Jack now. Not with so much at stake. |

"Of course I've heard of them... but I thought they were myth... legend, like the Time-War..." Jack paused. "I guess if I'd thought about it I would've realised they were real."
He stared long and hard at the Doctor.
"Why don't you come and sit down, explain everything to me?" He suggested, noting how tired the Doctor looked. |

He shook his head.
"We've got to get going, Jack - are you coming?" He offered, wondering if he'd actually have to do this alone.
He swayed slightly in place, a minute action which he recovered from quickly. There was a light sheen of persperation on his forehead. |

| "How long is it since you ate or slept?" Jack asked in concern ignoring the question at hand. Part of him wanted to say yes imediatly and the other half wasn't so sure. |

"Doesnt matter... Time Lords dont need much of either! Lets go shall we...!" He was impatient, eager and anxious all at the same time.
Five seconds later he was on the floor having fainted away (something which would embarrass him in later years as we all know Jack would NEVER let him forget it!) |

Jack hauled him inside the building, shouting to co-workers.
"Get me some cold water, a cloth and some easy to eat food!" He called, placing the Doctor down on a table. |

| He still muttered, writhing in Jacks grip - his sole intention to get to his TARDIS and rescue Rose. In reality it had been at least 3 months since he'd last seen Jack - and during that time he had eaten rarely and slept even less. |

"I'm sorry Doctor," Jack whispered gently. "But you're no good to Rose if you're dead as well."
Jack really didn't want that. He'd lost one friend he didn't think he could bear to loose another. |

He opened his eyes moments later, regarding Jack's solemn face fuzzily.
What had he been doing? Ah yes... Rose! He had come to collect Jack in order to go after Rose.
Pleased with his brain's mental exertion he started to rise up off the table he'd found himself lying on. No doubt he'd been taking a rest, he told himself logically. And now it was time to get up, and get Rose. |
