As you all know Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana and Mississippi very hard. Among them them the city of Gulfport. Fireferal resides close to it and i haven't heard from her yet. I'm very worried.
I'm praying that she and her family is okay. |

yeah, we're still without power. thankfully work isn't.
many phone lines are still out. I've been trying to find out information on Fireferal, but havent' been able to get through to anybody.
If I do, I will let somebody else know.
On a side note, this area is going to need a lot of help. If you can, please do. If you cant maybe you can later on. All of New Orleans is greatly affected and it will be months before any semblance of normality will occur.
The campus where I work is being used as a staging ground for several shelts and a 400 bed temporary hospital. Thereis also a pet shelter too. There are many churches that have opened their doors too.
This is not a short time recovery. It is a major disaster and who knows what's is in store for us.
I'll keep you updated.

Hey all! My family is okay, I'm okay, house is still here (thank you God). Just got phone service back up, can't call a lot of places still, running off of a generator for the well so we have water. Right now it seems like a very good thing to be in the backwoods.
I'd better keep this short so we can stretch the gas, you can't find it *anywhere* down here. We know a lot of homeless people, but they're all alive. All prayer will be very appreciated.
Thanks for the concern sis, it's good to know you're okay gelf! We've been trying to contact local law enforcement about using my search and rescue dog, sadly at this point it's probably going to be recovery mostly. Shelters are openening, distribution centers are up.
see you all later, *hugs for all* |

| YAY! every one is safe! around here we are working on getting things to send down there, like clean water, and some can food. Also the company I work for is sending some childern thing down, (because we work with mainly kids), and some things to help the kids. If you live in the NC area and want to help I could get you in touch with people. Just e-mail me and let me know or go to Red Cross or your church. |
