11 African Countries Sign Non-Aggression Pact

Eleven African countries have agreed on a draft protocol that bars countries from unilaterally pursuing armed groups inside their neighbour's territory.
The proposed protocol on "non-aggression and mutual defence" was debated at the international conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) in Luanda, Angola last week. The thinking behind the protocol is the realisation that incursion by some states into the territories of neighbouring countries has escalated conflicts in the Great Lakes region. |

Rwanda will Not attack Congo [DR]
The Presidential Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region, Dr Richard Sezibera has said that Rwanda has no intentions of attacking the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). "Rwanda has no intention of going into DRC. There is no need for an extraordinary deployment by Rwanda troops at the DRC border. I don't know about the Kinshasa warning but Rwanda has no need to invade DRC," Sezibera said during an exclusive interview with The New Times at his offices, yesterday.
