Although she's been gone for a long time I have been thinking more and more about my great-grandmother.
I am the oldest of her four great grandchildren; and she only got to see three of us. My baby cousin will never know her.
It has always been hard for me to accept the fact that she is gone. I think that if it had happened when I was older I would have been even more rattled than I was at the time.
I was old enough to know her and to remember her well, but young enough that at times I can just forget that she was ever in my life. I cannot remember much about her, but sometimes things do bring her to my mind.
She was an Atlanta Braves fan, and I know that she would have loved to see the team break the record this year.
She could sew, and as I've grown older I have started more and more to sew myself. There are times when I cannont put another stitch into what I am working on because I miss her so much.
She was full of history. One of the things that I regret the most was not ever asking to hear her stories about raising her family during the great-depression. When she was my age she was already married, and I think that she had already had a baby. I have become so curious about what it was like then.
That was my granny, and I miss her with everything with in me.

I understand exactly how you feel. It's so sad, but she's watching over you, making shure you're allright. |

Yup.
You know you've live a life when you look back over the various stories about that life, who you met, who you loved and who loved you.
Life's rich tapestry, each section a unique piece of history, of what will never be experienced again in quite the same way, by quite the same person
We start off as these little innocent wide eyed people, with no concept of just how big the world is.... until that is we start to explore it
Im sure your great grandmother was an amazing person, with amazing stories to tell. Perhaps she passed some of those stories onto your grandmother and your mother. Why not ask... dig out the family album or do a little research into your family history. |
