Okie - this is one following the events at Naxcon - principal characters will be Adam Kane (PsiGen) and Shoshana (gelf) - and explains in an AU verision of MX what happened to Adam Kane in the time after he escaped the explosion at Naxcon, found out about Emma and when he met up with the team at the end of Season Three.

He wanted so badly to go out to them, to help his 'children'. Especially when he saw the paramedics cover Emma DeLauro's lifeless body.
It cut through him like a knife - but if he stayed the rest of the team might very well follow Emma's fate, and he couldn't allow that.
Somehow, he gathered the strength to commandeer a vehicle, he was injured - a dislocated shoulder being the least of his problems, and he needed medical attention. Someplace off the grid though, maybe he could garner some supplies and assess his own condition.
Slipping the car into gear, he drove as safely as he could, not wanting to be pulled over.
He was a good 10 miles away before he realised his ring and com badge was missing.
Shrugging his injured shoulder painfully, he gritted his teeth and kept driving.
It couldnt be helped. |

Shoshana was out in the woods, gathering some herbs for her stores. It had been a few months since she had a chance to stretch her legs this way and be outdoors. Between the rounds at the charity hospital and her baby schedule, there had not been much time.
But something was off with today. Something that had started last night. She had some of those dreams again. Those of the scientist and his four friends. Something happened to them last night, but Sho didn't know what. That's part of the reason she jumped at the chance to go to the woods. To get away from it for a little while. But that feeling followed her even here.
Deciding to do something about it, she gathered up what she had already harvested from her small plot and headed back to the parking area. She'd call one of her friends from there to come pick her up, being as she had walked out here early this morning.
An SUV drove by, a little erratic. Sho jumped back and met eyes with the driver. She gasped when she recognized the guy from her dreams. "Hey," she called mentally. "What's wrong?" |

| There was confusion in that man's brain. Sho closed her eyes and concentrated. He was injured, badly. She reached out again mentally. "Hey, slow down and let me treat those injuries. You're not going to do anything but wreck into a tree if you continue that way. I'm a physician assistant." She added as she took off after the SUV. |

If he felt the mental tug, he did nothing about it.
He did however plough the SUV straight into a tree, the airbag protecting his head as he jerked forward within the restraints of his seat belt.
He was out cold. |

Sho groaned while she watched the SUV hit the tree. She ran over and yanked the driver's door open, pushing the deployed air bag away from his face. She blinked her eyes to visual any additional injuries. Other than some bruising from the seatbelt and the airbag, thankfully there were none.
She reached over and turned the ignition key off. Then she hit the door lock beside. Opening the door behind him, she pulled the injured man as carefully as she could onto the back seat. Instinctually she knew she couldn't take him back to her apartment in the city. She remembered her cabin and decided to attempt to get him there. She had some more medical supplies there. Luckily it was all back roads, as she rarely drove herself anywhere. But this was an emergency.
Starting up the SUV, she carefully backed up away from the tree. The SUV pulled hard to the one side, but was driveable. She crept down the back roads that criss-crossed this part of the area. Turning down the dirt road that lead to her cabin, she finally heaved a sigh of relief. She'd made it there.
She pulled up behind the cabin where nobody would see the vehicle from the front. Sho quickly went inside and prepared the bed. She mentally assessed his weight and grimaced as she went back out to the SUV.
She mentally talked to him all the while, "I'm going to have to get you out of this car now. You're probably not going to like it, but it's for your own good." Half carrying half stumbling with him, as Sho was barely 5'3 and this man was closer to six foot, she managed to get him inside.
Sho put on the pot of water to brew some tea first before she tried to address his injuries. |

Adam vaguely felt his body moving, without instructions from him, but was in little or no condition to do anything about it.
Instead he drifted in and out of semi consciousness, images of his team, Sanctuary, the GSA and the Creator all jumbling together.... throughout it all he was deeply aware of an overwhelming sense of loss.

Sho prepped the cabin. One so she wouldn't get disturbed while she was assessing his injuries and two, when she was done, she would be tired.
While waiting for the water to boil, she checked her messages at the apartment. None for now. She called her medical answering service and had all her calls forwarded to them except for family calls.
She pulled out her bag of herbs and medical supplies. Then she set up a sleeping pallet on the floor beside the couch. Except for birthing babies, all her medical expertise tired her out immensely. It was something her Cherokee tradition had taught her, how to heal bodies and minds.
Shoshana settled on the floor, indian-style, and closed her eyes to concentrate on the man's injuries. She moved her hands carefully to his shoulder and winced herself as she saw how deep the injury ran. There were other superficial injuries and bruises all over, both from the airbag earlier and some from previous injuries. His mind was a jumbled mess of grief and images.
She immersed herself into his mind, carefully and quietly, not wanting to upset him more. "Hi, there. I'm Shoshana. I'm going to try and fix your shoulder. What happened?" |

He answered with an image - a fiery ball of fire which rushed past so close, they could feel the searing heat... a single solitary cry for help, his name called out in anguish, followed by a terrible, terrible silence.

Sho broke off the contact in pain and shock. She sat there a few minutes calming herself, wiping her eyes of tears she didn't know had fallen and then she knew what she had to do.
Standing up carefully, she prepared the tea, incense and candles. She then made a plaster for the injured shoulder and carefuly laid in on under his shirt. When the tea was finished brewing, she coaxed him into a few swallows of the tea. |

Shoshana sighed and gently pushed the man back onto the bed. "shh! you can't go anywhere just yet. Not until that shoulder finishes mending at least."
She wondered who Emma was, and why he was so upset over her. The dream had not shown who Emma was. |

| Sho sighed when he cringed. This was not working out well. "Alright," she said softly and moved back to refresh her cup of tea. She finished it quickly and laid down on her pallet beside the bed. She had been up all night at the hospital and then straight to the woods and then here. She curled up and went to sleep, alert to any movement and noise. |
