Would you find a thitrty-something Jesse "cute"? Youth is fleeting. The only ones who would still be the way they are are the older actors. The others would be interchangeable, which is probably a principle of the series.

Shea still might learn how to act, given enough time...

Just wanted to introduce myself with flair. Wink I've been a lurker for sometime and I've finally decided to join MXLOS which is practically legendary amonst Mutant X Sites, and I can see why. This is one active Mutant X community which I hope to become a part of.

Anyway about me.I'm Sanctuary and I'm a pessimist by nature, but when it comes to Mutant X I won't accept that such a wonderful show has to end.So being a stubborn person I started the Save Mutant X forums (which anyone can check out by linking my profile if they really want.I'm really not here to advertise , though it does help)

I love watching Mutant X music videos which is almost a hobby really Laughing Except for mutant X I love science fiction and fantasy movies, t.v shows and books.Farscape is another great obsession.I also love every and any kind of art.Sculpting, painting, drawing, photography, jewelry art, oils, digital art, you name it.I do it. Sanc,

Is your forum about reviving a long-embalmed series or is it a cult of true believers who think just because they want the series back, business rules and guidelines in television will be waived...just for them?

Fascinating read, but...

welcome dear!

yes i do know that i am quite late in doing that and that i am ignoring waht certian people ahve said about the revival of the show, but let me assure you, i am in the plan with you. i want to at least try to get us the 2 hour movie made, and as far as i'm concered sets and props were made once they can be made again.

now i wont say anything against anyone cause that is not my style, and really the last thing that i want to do is cause trouble, but do keep dreaming my dear.....if enough of us dream we can make soemthing happen.

yes BSG did get cancelled 25 years ago, but it has been brought back now and it is a big hit.

on the flip side the latest edition fo Star Trek, (Star Trek Enterprise) did not do as well as most of the other shows in the collection.

It is all about timing. yes the writing and all that other stuff is important, but somtiems it works down to just aht soemtinging was released at the wrong time. I mean imagine if a show that focused on gay characters had been released back when TV first came out, it would have flopped, but right now those shows do well.

and about ratings, it doens't always matter about them. there were two shows that i was watching Birds of Prey and Witchblade, both had excellent ratings, and they still got cancelled. I'm not sure what happened to Birds of Prey, but Witchblade had nothing to do with ratings. It was canceled becasue the lead actress became an acoholic.

so there my dear, a bit of hope for our resolution to the show and some explination aobut how silly network executives can be at times.

lots of love to you
tana

oh yes i forgot to add this in my previous message.....

i watch BSG (the new series) and I watched Enterprise.

and one more thing, Firefly got cancelled halfway through their first season, and now the movie serinity was made and there is a chance for two more movies to be made.'

granted joss whedon still owned the rights, but rights can be bougth and sold, all it takes is money....and a lot of dedication.

and of course farscape is also a good example of what hte strenght of fans can do....

i'm a dreamer and i know that i am, but that is my own perogative. for those who want to dream, do dream on; and for those who are scared to dream, dont kill the dreams of others with blunt reality. if the wright brothers had listed to everone who said that humans were never going to fly we wouldnt have the airplae today, and who knows what all could have been affected by that!

lotta love

Uh, no.

The Wright Brothers were not airy fairy fluffy minded dreamers, and it is wildly wrong to think of them that way. They were mechanically and mathematically inclined and nothing they did was guided by wild hope, but by serious science. They worked from the best-understood notions of flight and lift as detailed in complex equations; they were not backyard tinkerers as sometimes portrayed.

They promoted flight possibilities all along. Why do you think they carefully documented their work on film? They remained active in selling their ideas to the US and foreign goverments.

There is also good evidence that they were not the first, or even the second at successful self-propelled flight. They just did the best job of promoting what they did. Aviation was inevitable.

Everything that followed since has been built upon better, more dependable engines (piston engines used in the larger airliners of the 1950s were notoriously difficult to maintain, but gas turbine engines are now considered so reliable that airliners cross oceans equipped with only 2 of them) and materials science (go up close to some old planes in museums, and you will see they are merely wooden skeletons covered with coated cloth)

Two of my cats are brothers...from Dayton...and yes, they are named Wilbur and Orville...

=>if you're ever in Dayton, Ohio, make a point of visiting the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB. It's free, and open nearly every day of the year. They have a reproduction of the Wright Flyer, among a gazillion other exhibits, including a B-36 complete and whole inside one building, with other planes displayed under its wings!

They also have programs bringing in some extraordinary speakers. I've seen fascinating talks given by test pilots of the Northrop 1940s flying wing projects and by the test pilot of the Messerschmidt Komet (he was in his 90s and still flew gliders!). The museum has a restored Komet.

Did the original Battlestar Galactica return? No. And a good thing, too; it was dreadful, which is why it lasted barely a season in its original format. Between the cylons who could not hit any target, the shallow characters, and the overlay of Mormon theology, it was one of the oddest bits of space opera ever.

Did the original Star Trek ever return as a series? No. Some series with reference to the original ST universe were made, but they don't resemble the original, being awash in political correctness.

To believe that intently wishing for a thing will make it happen is magical thinking.

To believe that somehow the realities of the television business can be ignored because you wish that was so is more magical thinking.

The dreams most people actually attain--a particular career, a level of recognition in the performing arts, --are achieved only through hard work with a solid understanding of what is required for to make the dream real.

If you really want MX to come back, your surest move would be to go forth and become a billionaire and bankroll the revival. I'm not being flippant. TV is a business, and is about money. If there was a profit to be made producing Mutant X, it would never have gone out of production.

my plan is to make the money and make the movie myself.....and i'm not playing.

i'm also going to stop there because i dont want to get into a cat fight with you. we seem to clash on just about everything, and i really dont want to do that.

i will apologize for the bad reference to the wright brothers...it was 230 am and i was hyped up on cold meds...it was the only example that i could think of at the time.

and yes i do realize that the BSG is not the original, it is a better done version that i do love to death! like i say time is very influential, and maybe this just isnt the right time for MX to be produced. Right now the popular stuff is CSI and 'reality tv' most sci-fi shows are not doing as well, but then again the 'spook' shows as my mother calls them such as lost are doing well.....it is all about following the public's like and dislikes.

so with that being said i'm done with this particular disagreement. i honestly dont want to get into a fight with you or anyone. like i say i'm a dreamer. i'm a hopeless romantic, and i know it. for me to come to the site was a risk because i do know that not everyone is like me.

lotta love

I'm not saying this tos tart the fight but the sets argument is useless. I mean they blew up both Sanctuary and the Helix in the last eppy. So begining anew isn't that hard to do.

I'll shut up now.

Do a search of the entertainment/tv online material from 2004 about the demise of Fireworks. The primary reason Fireworks died is the poor market globally for series like MX --that's truth, and you'll find it in several sources.

Even if they did it on the cheap, and used generic, contemporary sets, production still costs. X-Files in its first season in the 1990s which did not use large specialized sets cost $1 million per episode, for example.

Whether you want to hear it or not, the actors playing the kids were getting a bit old for the roles. Younger actors should probably have been cast initially if they wanted the characters to remain static instead of evolve.

If MX ever returns-and Hollywood is so devoid of original ideas that they recycle everything, MX itself being rooted just a little too much in work done elsewhere-it won't be the original series. Certainly any corporation with a competent lawyer won't make this mistake again.

And another thing: if by some chance the series went back into production, it would have to find customers to broadcast it. As long as Tribune and Canwest owned it, it had a guaranteed outlet on Tribune-owned tv stations, including the Chicago station with a national cable/satellite presence in the US and the Canwest-owned Global network in Canada. But those associations are gone with the sale of the rights, so the series would have to be re-sold to broadcast/network customers.
