Fears: Spiders she cant stand. Confined dark unknown spaces. If its lit up shes fine but if its dark she freaks. Being alone in extremely tense situations such as say the murderer might still be in the area and she's left alone. She can keep a cool head but she gets very nervous. Its not really a fear its just a little nerve wracking.
History: Shalin was a bright girl that was always naturally curious which got her into trouble a lot and not just with her parents. She broke her arm and leg at least twice in her life but that didnt stop her from going out and doing what she loves. She's not one to just sit around and recover while being pampered. When she was little she was always a tomboy doing cattle drives, wrestling calves, riding horses bareback and hiking.
She grew up out in the country side of Nevada with horses, dogs, cows, cats and dogs with the occasional goat or three. She learned barrel racing, cattle driving which she found more fun than anything.
At first she wanted to be a vet because she loved animals. bringing home everything from lizards and snakes to dogs, cats and birds. That was when she learned of forensics while watching tv. Go figure. From then on she knew what she wanted to do. Shalin went to NCU, graduating at the top 10% of her school. She knows a lot about animals which is one of her specialities besides having a keen eye and thinking outside the box. That was one of the reasons she did so well when given assignments.
She came back to work with the Las Vegas crime lab where she got along with almost everyone. Shalin is friendly but sarcastic with a cold demenor about her or so it seems at first glance. Dont let that fool you into thinking she's an ice queen unless you get on the wrong side of her. While she is extremely smart she can be slightly naive and has a lot to learn at the same time. In what spare time she has her favorite thing to do is ride horses,read and hike.
Relatives: She is an only child so no siblings. Her parents are alive and still live on the ranch they own. Her mother is a elementary school teacher while her father runs the ranch and sells the cattle as well as some horses. Money is not too much of an issue but sometimes it can be. |

Spent his first three years out of college on the Dallas police force, then transferred to the Dallas crime lab, spending one year as CSI Level One before transferring to Las Vegas.
Bio:
The last child in a family of seven, Nick was born into law enforcement. His father worked as the state D.A. before being appointed to the bench. Two years ago, Nick’s father was appointed to the Texas State Supreme Court. Nick’s mother has spent her entire adult life working as a public defender. They have been happily-married for 45 years. With one brother and five sisters, Nick had a lot of people looking out for him. Maybe that’s why everything feels so personal to Nick. He has no distance from his work because he’s always been close to people. Where Sara struggles with relationships, Nick can’t help himself. Being with and around people is so easy for him. What’s hard is balancing the unspoken but competing perspectives of his parents. He wants to live up to their expectations, and becoming a CSI was one way of finding a compromise. Being a cop was too much for his father. As a CSI, he’s objective. He still has social responsibility to uphold, but does his job without an agenda. The evidence speaks and everyone has to respect what it says, both public defenders as well as judges on the bench. Nick could still be in Texas, but he chose to move two states over. There’s a part of Nick that loves his family and his family name, but there’s a part of him that wants to be on his own, to lay down his own roots and establish his own identity. What he’s finding is that roots don’t take quickly. Growing them is a slow process fraught with mistakes…and Nick isn’t finished. |
