Quote: With Shalimar pregnant, he would lose his strongest fighter for maybe up to three years. Even if they are in a normal "employment" for pay, I don't think Adam as the "employer" would not try to say a word on it.
Imagine Adam kicking Shalimar out with her 7 "kittens", standing by as she carries each out the door in turn...in her mouth, by the loose skin around their necks... |

| do you really imagine shalimar doing that because i certanly can't, i don't think adam would do anything like kicking out any of the team members because they have all grown as one family and shalimar has been living with adam before any of the others have entered sanctuary and if he was to kick any one out it would certainly not be shalimar, she is like his own daughter. |

What Adam says and what we see him do are not the same things.
Over 3 seasons, he lies and deceives the kids, and uses them to his own purposes. He'd find a way to get rid of anyone who wasn't docilely following his orders.
The thing about Mutant X that many fans miss is that examining the characters reveals that they are something less than they are claimed to be. Adam was so "fatherly" towards Brennan that he compiled data on his criminal past, for example, in case he needed to use it. That's just one example--start thinking independently and you can find contradictions everywhere. |

Sure?
In Understudy, when Adam takes Shalimar aside, it looks a lot like he is about to kiss her on the mouth, but changes his mind in the last moment and gives her a kiss on the forehead. That's not fatherly in the first place. They also start developping "things" with each other when Adam is gone. |

Very, very few straight unmarried/unattached normal men go around collecting extremely attractive young girls and women and whisk them off to a hole in the ground where they are removed from routine contact with wider society, all in the name of keeping them "safe".
Step back from Mutant X for a moment, and imagine you are reading a news story about a man doing this. What would you think? Would you think, "Sure, that's perfectly normal and understandable. What a great guy!" I suspect you would not.
Much of what goes on in Mutant X between "Daddy" Adam and his "children" is most peculiar, especially if you are aware of how risky it is in current American society to have any physical contact with other peoples' kids. Parents imagine that their progeny will be grabbed off the streets by molesters, and there is a thriving business catering to these fears. [The fears are overblown.]
Many adults will no longer coach kids' teams or do anything that would put them at risk if a snotty brat decided to raise hell, which they will do, ruining lives. [Kids are perfectly aware of the power of their accusations.] I try to never ever come within ~3 meters of children. |

Anything still considered a minor.
It's just not worth the risk. Some parents are just nutty. I knew a guy who feared that his 6 foot son, 15 years old would be grabbed off the street and who coddled the kid because of it. Nobody needs lawsuits arising from the hellraising of children. |

And it's stupid because???
Adam's very odd. I think the notion of him having fatherly motives is more peculiar than collecting his little band of attractive women. |
