Do you think the government in the Mutant X parallel universe would encourage mutant issues or rather try to repress them? "Inter-racial" marriages and children, equal opportunity employment, abortion and the like? All options open. Mutant X actually never states that it is set the real U.S.A., Republican or even in a democracy.

An amusing thought.

Perhaps Adam's real agenda is to use the mutant "cause" to pose as their savior publicly and noisily to gain the support of those swayed by such emotion-rooted poses, with the ultimate goal of attaining wide political power. "I care and YOU don't" fools most of the sheeple here who are ready to believe a drunken cosset like Ted Kennedy or unsubtle opportunists like the Clintons really, really, really care about The Little People.

I don't think the MX universe really ever posed that problem. Mutant's aren't that many and there's a big chance they will go extinct (according to season 3). And frankly i don't see it happening, i think they prefer living hidden lives so far.

Hmm. This was a "what if?" kind of question, not a "would it happen?" kind of question. Go with the what if, and see where it leads.

The MX universe never posed a lot of questions that needed attention, either because the writers were too lazy or they assumed the audience too stupid to care. Even if the writers were lazy and most fans never troubling to think about what they were shown, that does not mean that the questions are not worth asking and thinking about.

Thinking about modification of human genetics the way MX did is like narrowly thinking about nuclear energy only in terms of Three Mile Island and Ginna, ignoring both Chernobyl and successful civil nuclear power plants in many countries.

I'm not at all clear what you mean. Non-criminal mutants who were not involved with Adam appeared to be capable of living perfectly ordinary, successful lives.

In other words, if you are a mutant, and you do not steal or make a nuisance of yourself to society with your 'powers', you could fly right under the radar and live with all the rights of anyone else. Do criminal mutants and 'harrassment' mutants deserve unique rights?
